With every promising title that was released, almost all of them satisfied people’s expectations.
Now that we’re on the verge of saying this year a warm good-bye, we have compiled a list 10 games released this year that excelled in almost every aspect of gaming.
10. Call of Duty: WW2

Call of Duty and Sledgehammer Games finally did it in 2017. After all of the criticisms that the franchise faced for the previous Call of Duty’s which had futuristic gameplays, this was a real treat to the fanbase.
This is time Call of Duty was based on World War 2, the roots of the actual game. The gaming environment is purely based on the war with Allies and Axis weaponry.
It also includes it famous zombies mode named Nazi Zombies which made headlines upon its announcement. WW2 received decent reviews around the world and after getting a World War 2 COD after so long, this had to be on our list.
9. Assassin’s Creed Origins

Ubisoft released their tenth instalment in the Assasin’s Creed series this year.
Set in Ancient Egypt, players experience a rich open world gaming environment. It has all of what Assassin’s Creed is known for. Unmatched stealth, compelling storyline with rich gameplay, Ubisoft did everything right.
People believe it to be the best Assassin’s Creed game in recent years.
8. Destiny 2

Destiny dropped a lot of headlines when it came first came out. It’s brilliant multiplayer made this game hold a strong reputation for quite a long time.
In 2017, Bungie gaming released the second Destiny game. Destiny 2 had a more structured and defined campaign, something the previous game lacked.
Now with an improved campaign and the same amazing multiplayer, this game held its significance greatly this year and if you still haven’t bought it yet, you’re missing a lot.
7. NeiR: Automata

Platinum Games with this title, shifted our minds away from the usual RPG games that we encounter. A beautifully designed game with impressive combat gameplay, this game almost gets the full points. The game possesses the same problem which was found in the last NieR game, it’s utterly confusing. With so many twists and turns and ultimately having a completely obscure ending, this game loses its score when it comes to clarity. Other than that, this game truly is a wonderful and fun game to play. If you haven’t tried this out yet, you better pick one this Christmas.
6. Horizon Zero Dawn

One of the best PS4 exclusive, Hero Zero Dawn stunned everyone with its beautiful visuals and gameplay. The game is based on a girl who lives in a post-apocalyptic world, way ahead in the future.
She tries to find the knowledge of her past and how machines suddenly overtook humanity. The most impressive aspect of the game is its visuals. The huge emphasis on details and graphics makes this the most beautiful game of the year. The games look even more beautiful when played with HDR on PS4 Pro.
Combine that with brilliant, smooth and fun-filled gameplay, this comes close to be called a masterpiece.
5. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard

Resident Evil series has had a big name when it comes to horror games. with this year, however, Capcom made the best horror game in recent years.
This game was already trending after its teaser in the E3 last year. The game took a switch to the first person, which originally used to be a third person game. This drastically changed the whole feeling of the game, in a positive way. With its brilliant voice acting, visuals, sound but most importantly, the thrilling gameplay, really makes it one of the best games of the year, rather than being just another horror game.
4. Persona 5

Persona 5 was the 5th instalment in the Japanese RPG series.
Players find themselves playing the character of a high school kid who spends the after hours in saving the world. Having special abilities, he’s able to identify the minds of nefarious people and people battling demons to change their inner self.
With such deep emphasis on the storyline, paired with brilliant visuals and gameplay, really gives this game the spotlight.
Some people believe this game to be the best of the series and huge deal in the Japanese RPG genre. This game is widely considered to be the best RPG of the year.
3. Super Mario Odyssey

Everyone’s favourite Mario made a come back this year for the newly released Nintendo Switch. It was the console’s first ever Mario game and was received as a sweet treat by the fanbase.

2. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

The second place goes to the game which broke records in PC gaming. In just a year, it managed to attract millions of gamers, having most people online almost every week on Steam. The game was reported to be the second best-selling PC game of all time.
PUBG is an FPS and TPS combined, highly addictive multiplayer game which heavily relies on combat tactics. The game starts with player parachuting onto a large map with no weapon in hand. Players are supposed to find their own weapons. With clever tactics, one progresses to win the game. It can be played solo or with a proper team.
The game has a massive community where players extensively interact with themselves and with the developers.

The first main game for the Nintendo Switch was already dubbed as one of the best games Nintendo has ever made. Breath of the Wild makes players experience an alluring open world gameplay where the iconic character Link, makes his quest to fight a malicious evil.
Unlike other games where there are long prologues with tutorials, this game directly takes you into the actual game where you’re supposed to figure everything out.
This lets the players experience the game to its fullest which is why this game is so loved by millions of people. This reinvention of the most loved gaming series, having absolutely every aspect of gaming perfectly right, this game was a no-brainer to top our list.
